What is a high school diploma?
An official document issued by an educational institution, such as a high school, testifying that the recipient has earned a diploma or has successfully completed a particular course of study. The American Academy High School program consists of particular courses of study. Once, you have successfully completed the program we confer a high school diploma. It is not just a test-for-diploma document. This is the difference between a GED and a high school diploma.
What is a GED?
GED is an acronym for "General Equivalency Diploma." It is similar to a high school diploma and it is usually conferred, by a local governmental educational institution for example, a public school. The general method of obtaining a GED is to register and appear to have the test administered at a pre-assigned location. Questions may vary, but they generally consist of high school subject material composed of writing, spelling, mathematics, social studies science, etc. If the test is passed, the public school confers a GED.
Is this a GED or a High School Diploma?
We confer a genuine high school diploma, once all program content has been completed and passed.
Is American Academy High School a real school?
Unlike some Online Learning providers, American Academy High School is registered with the state of Florida Department of Education. We are a brick and mortar school. American Academy High School employs faculty (instructors), support staff and administration. But, most importantly American Academy High School is a real school, with traditional classroom settings and regular attending student body for students who are enrolled in our on-campus program. We are not a diploma mill and we do not issue life experience credits.

American Academy High School is both Nationally and Internationally accredited.
Can I get a job or a better one with a high school diploma?
Yes, as we move into the 21st century, there will be many challenges and changes in what an employer is seeking to hire. Your chances of obtaining a job, or a better one with a pay increase is almost doubled than those who do not posses a high school diploma. Therefore, a high school diploma is almost a "prerequisite" to any job in this new millennium. Not to mention, enrollment and acceptance at colleges and universities
Can I use this diploma for admission in colleges or universities?
Many of our graduates, have enrolled in local and private colleges and universities. We are listed in the state registered index, of nationally accredited schools. We confer a genuine high school diploma, with traditional transcripts. We do not issue "life experience" credits unlike some learning providers, most colleges and universities do not accept life experience credits and thus, reject your transcripts.
Can I use this diploma to enlist in the armed forces?
Yes, our diploma is accepted with the various branches of the US armed forces. It is categorized as either a tier 1 or tier 2 high school diploma. However, it is recommended that you check your local armed forces recruiter on their acceptance of your diploma. Many of our graduates have enlisted in the armed forces. We have close ties with regional armed forces recruitment offices. The US armed forces usually reject a transcript with life experience credits. American Academy High School does NOT issue life experience credits! *It is recommended that you contact your local recruitment office to see if our diploma complies with their acceptance requirements into your desired tier level.

What types programs does American Academy High School offer?
American Academy High School offers a unique and innovative accelerated high school diploma. The program is broken up into (4) groups 1 - On-campus enrollees, 2 - Home study enrollees, 3- On line program and 4- Online instant test program.
How old must a person be to enroll in the program?
While we have no set age requirement for enrollment, we usually prefer an applicant student to be above the age of compulsory education (15 years old). If the applicant is under 18 y/o, we require the parent or legal guardian to sign a consent and waiver form. Moreover, our graduates range from 15 - 70 years of age. It is never too late!
Can I enroll if I am a foreign student?
Yes, however, your application must be reviewed and approved by the administration prior to acceptance. Our program is available to students worldwide. You must have a basic understanding of the English language as well as, basic reading and writing skills. American Academy High School is both Nationally and Internationally accredited.
How long does it take to complete the program?
Usual completion time is 90 days or less. Some of our graduates have completed the program in as little as a week if enrolled in the Online Instant Test Program. The Home Study and the Online Programs are self-paced and self-sufficient program. You may complete the program at your own pace. Once you complete the program and all content has been reviewed for completeness and accuracy, a genuine high school diploma will be conferred. Completion time varies depending on your ability and or capability of submitting your work and the program of your choice.
How does the Home Study Program work?
The high school diploma program is an accelerated program. It consists of all requirements necessary for graduation, from grades 9 - 12 th in just a few short months - weeks and not YEARS! We base the credits you receive on a credit hour basis and not clock hours as traditional schools. You have the capability of completing the program based on content and not on clock hours. Completing your credit hour content is what defines our program as "accelerated." Many schools, colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide have programs that are credit hours vs. clock hours, which are approved across the board by the US Department of Education and accrediting commissions nationwide.
Once a student enrolls in person, online, or by mail the home study program is sent out through the regular mail service. Included in the package are instructions, workbooks, assignments and instructions on how to schedule monitored tests. You may complete the home study program at your own pace. The sooner you complete each section and submit your completed workbooks back to the school for a passing grade and posting, the sooner you will graduate.
What happens if I submit I don't achieve a passing grade?
If an assignment is not passed, you will be notified and a copy is forwarded for you to review. You will then have to resubmit the assignment for a passing grade. The material is self explanatory, achieving a passing grade on all subject matters is within reach.
What happens, if I complete the program with a passing grade?
If the work submitted is passed and the program content is completed in its entirety, you will be conferred a high school diploma, with a set of official transcripts. You will then be a high school graduate.
Can my existing high school credits be transferred to your school?
No, we do not issue credit for any existing credits you may have, as you must complete our program in it's entirety in order to be conferred a high school diploma from American Academy High School. However, we do request that if you have existing credits from a previous school that you submit a copy of your transcripts within 7 days of enrollment and a reference of these transcripts will be made unto the transcripts you receive from American Academy High School. The transcript you provide must be an "original" document in order for us to list this reference on your transcript. This requirement, is not mandated for a previously home schooled student without prior credits in a traditional school system.
Does American Academy High School issue life experience credits?
No, unlike many Learning providers, American Academy High School DOES NOT issue life experience credits. This is due to our academic integrity, educational ethics and accreditation standards. Many online Learning providers or correspondence schools, provide you with a fast high school diploma by issuing life experience credits. However, most colleges and universities do not accept life experience credits and thus, reject your transcripts.
How much is the tuition for the home study program?
Our regular tuition is $875. This consist of 5 subject matters: reading, writing, social studies, science and mathematics. We have a convenient payment plan of $186 per subject. Please visit the ENROLLMENT section for further information regarding payment.
How do I enroll in the home study program?
You may enroll in person, online or by mail. If you chose to enroll online (the quickest method), simply click on the "Enroll Home Study" blue tab in the website's index. Click on the link on page for "Enroll Here" then; 1- add the program to your shopping cart; 2- Click on checkout; 3- Follow the steps to complete the checkout.
What is included in the price of tuition?
1- Instructions on how to complete the program
2- 5 workbooks (writing, reading, science, mathematics and social studies)
3- 8 online and monitored exams (writing, reading, science, mathematics, social studies + elective) * if you prefer, you may take written final exams by scheduling them at the campus.
4- A high school diploma presented in a beautiful cover (upon graduation)

What methods of payment are accepted?
You may pay for your program, with a major credit card or a bank check card. You may do this on-line by adding the program to your cart and then clicking on the checkout button. You may also pay by sending or bringing a check, money order or cashier's check directly to the school.
How do I receive my program material?
The program is generally mailed to you upon enrollment. However, if you are a local resident, you may pickup the program at the school and avoid shipping charges.
Is there a graduation ceremony?
Yes, every 3 months or so a graduation ceremony is conducted. Whether you are a local resident or distant student, you are welcomed to participate in your scheduled graduation ceremony. There is a nominal gown and administrative fee. If you are interested in walking in a graduation ceremony, please contact the school's registrar two weeks prior to the scheduled graduation ceremony.
